When a contract is written, a booking fee of $500 is due within 3 weeks of the contract date. Then, your payments will be split into 2. The first installment will be ½ of your total, and due 10 weeks before your arrival. The 2nd installment will be due 3 weeks before arrival, and will be the second half of the total, minus the $500 deposit.
We work with all sizes of troops, but for larger groups (40 + people), we may have to split the group up for certain tours and/or restaurants.
We will always arrange a hotel in the downtown Savannah Historic District. Savannah is a walking city, and it is recommended that you walk to your downtown destinations; driving around downtown can be challenging for those unfamiliar with the city's layout.
For those troops driving to Savannah: You will need to use your own transportation outside the city, specifically Tybee Island and Laurel Grove Cemetery.
Troops arriving by plane or Amtrak: we will include transportation to and from your downtown hotel, as well as charter transportation to Tybee Island, etc. **For smaller troops under 7 people, we highly recommend that you rent a vehicle for the day you will be on Tybee Island. Chartered transportation is figured on an hourly basis, and therefore is not cost-effective for small troops without transportation.**
With all the properties we use, quad occupancy is figured with 2 queen beds per room. Some properties, such as the Hampton Inn & Suites, offer queen suites instead of doubles, which have an extra pullout sofa bed, so they will sleep 5 in those rooms. The cost is slightly higher than the double rooms.
For most hotels, connecting rooms are limited throughout the property. Since there usually are so few sets of connecting rooms, we tell our scout leaders that they cannot be guaranteed at any property. Rollaway beds are also not available, due to strict fire codes for the historic district.
In all properties, a free hot and cold buffet breakfast is offered each morning.
Tours will operate rain or shine, such as walking tours. However, thunderstorms are common in the summer months. If a tour is cancelled and cannot be rescheduled, you will receive a full refund for that tour.
The restaurants that we contract with are all familiar with allergies and can accommodate special diets. Gluten-free options are available in most restaurants, and we will avoid those restaurants if necessary that do not offer those options. Vegetarian options are usually not a problem at any restaurant.
